How to take off TPS??

Are the bolts? Are they stuns? WTF are they? Help please Tell me how to take off the tps!!!

try and turn them with some vise grips or somthing... they look like studs or rivets but they have threads and will back out of the body

when i was helping a guy polish up some TBs, we drilled the rivets out and put in screws

Find something to grind slots in the rivets. Then you can unscrew it with a flathead screwdriver.

I used a small hack saw to cut slots in them, then just unscrew em. Once you get them off, replace them with phillips screws.

A dealership may have one, but do you want to pay$65 to have it taken off??

these were built so that if one went bad the entire TB needed replacement, or so i've been told... i would take what's in there out and use screws...

Ok reason I was replacing the TPS is becaause my Idle jumps from 1000-1500 when in P and N with my automactic. So I took it to Firestone for a diagnostics check and the Firestone's head mechanic swore it was the Tps but wanted another $220 on top of the $90 I paid for the diagnostics so I was like Funk that.

Thats why I came here and ask the question of the thread. I used a hacksaw to carve a little slot into the rivet and made it so a flathead can fit nicely into it. After about a 1/2 hour in the snow and 20 degee weather i turned the key and BAMMMMM THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. :thumbup:

You cant just slap another TPS on their you have to calibrate the new one with a digital multi meter to a certain spec. The TPS is in a specific location so you can make things worse by doing that without setting the TPS properly. You can find the spec online i dont recall what it was off the top of my head.

i think it should be .5 v closed?

What do i put touch the multimeter too. Does 0.5 at closed mean at idle?

You set it with engine off. The ignition should be on tho. It's .45 - .5 volts when the throttle plate is closed. It should be 4.5 v at WOT.

It's not your TPS sensor that's causing you trouble. It's your fast idle valve, it's located just to the right of the tps on the back of the manifold.
