Well it's about 15 degrees outside, and I guess it was a bad idea to degrease my engine now. However, I did it then washed it off. When I went to drive it though, it sounded like it had blown a plug or something. I have no clue what's wrong with it and I am very pissed...

well a little more info on what exactly is going on would be helpful. Is it running rough? sound funny? is it puttering like the plug was blown out of the head or just not firing?? I'd check your distributor cap and see if you got any water in it or anything.

I'm thinking water got somewhere, because it does sound like a plug is not firing. Sounds like a chopper really, putter putter putter no power. Usually a plug problem. I will have to check them tomorrow after I grab a ride to school, and it being so fucking cold does not help.

yeah, sounds like you might need to let some things dry out, namely your distributor cap. When you pull it off, make sure its in good working condition and nothing was fried.

Think if it has time to dry it will be good? BTW get on AIM if you can...

if its parked somewhere warm it probably will try out, but not if its outside in the 15 degree weather.

How long did you run it? I had a sentra that did the same thing and the only way to get it dry was to idle @ 2000rpm for 5min or so. Also you might check to see if you have any uncapped vacuum lines?
Like NXRacer said, nothings going to dry out if it's 15 degrees out, the water will just freeze

NX rules, turns out it was the distrib cap. Took it off took a blow dryer to it, slapped it on ran like crap on wheels,(normally how it runs is crap on wheels). Thanks man.

I hear you on the f-ing cold weather! I've got rain on top of a foot and a half of snow, so now its puddles on 4inches of ice/slush...
I've been thinking about degreasing too.... I guess now'll I'll wait till it warms up alot more

Degreaser did absolutely nothing on my engine...

the best thing i've found so far for cleaning engines is Simple Green. You can pick it up at pretty much any store. Works WONDERS on dirty engines.

NX how do you apply it? I've seen the spray bottles but I'm assuming you used a brush or something to work it into the heavy deposits... and do you cover the electrical components? I want to do this with a minimum of f*ck-ups

for the most part, you just spray the shit out of your engine bay and let it soak, then hit it was a power washer. I've done it before and only covered the intake filter and everything was fine. If you have the time, it wouldnt be a bad idea to cover up the alternator and and distributor just to be safe.

If you dont have access to a power washer, a self service car was will do the trick. Obviously this isnt something to do when its cold out.

Anyway yeah, wait till it warms up which is what I'm going to do. Cover Distrib, Intake, and Windshield Wiper moter, giving me problem now...
