I'm looking to solve my flickery lights and came acrossed some interesting info about capacitors and found they are not what I thought they were, but I also found something called "The big 3" (http://forum.sounddomain.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=007801) on another forum. Has anyone tryed this? Did it actually work? Any other idea's to stop my lights from flashing when the bass hits?

the big 3 works well if you are just over the cusp of light flickering,
if you have a 1000w system it won't fix the problem, but you'll need a smaller cap.

that link has some preety good info, yeah basically thats what you wanna do, upgrade your wiring, possibly a better/newer battery, different alt (possibly one out of an acura legend), then have a good amp and cap you should be set.

Well, I'm somewhere between 600 and 800 watts according to my local stereo shop(I have an Orion 225HCCA) with the way I wired it. I'ma try this on my days off next week. Question though, will 4 gauge wire be OK?

That's what I'm running to my amp, too, I meant for the "big 3" upgrade, is 4g ok?

yeah it should be good. If you have some money to burn those optima yellow top batteries also make a big difference in the performane of your system. you could probably get away with a big 3 upgrade and a yellow top. but ask your stereo shop if they'll let you try one first to see if it fixes the problem, its a lot of money to spend on a battery.

yea, aren't they somewhere near $150 or so? I really need to do something though, people think I'm flashing them if I have my stereo turned up the slightest bit.

old news, but yeah, upgrading your ground wires can give you a noticeable change in power. the lights usually get brighter, the engine runs a little stronger etc. This is a good upgrade to do whether you're doing a high power stereo installation or keeping it 'stock'.

yeah those yellow top batteries are 120-150 which is what you'd pay for an excellent quality capacitor. The guy at the local shop by me uses 2 of those yellow batts as capacitors for his demo wall.

The yellow top is well worth it and as Nx sed, Upgrading your ground is good to do on any old car...
