ok ive been pondering this for a while now and is it possable to drill your own rotors as opposed to buying then already drilled?
i would think the only thing you would need would be a drill press and a pattern and your all set.
am i right or am i wrong? has anyone got a pattern or has anyone tried this or thought about it?
just asking for knowledge reasons and if i get a good response im gonna do it. now im plannin on buyin one of those lathe/milling machines and try to slot the rotors too. i have some old rotors that im gonna try to do this to first. im not into fuckin up my brand new rotors unless it works you know what i mean?

Make sure you use a sharp bit for metal and lots of oil or you'll burn it up and get a good shower of sparks. I'v seen quite a few guys from Canada on ebay selling Zinc coated cross/slotted rotors for like $150 for a set of front/rear, but I'm not sure how those rank. I just started putting together my rear disc swap for the 84 HB, I got the hubs and calipers off an 86 Si and its a perfect fit.

go buy one rotor already drilled and follow that pattern (you might could make a few and sell them )

i took machine shop in high school for two years. i am a damn good machinist! i could make anything as long as i had the tools to do it with. i won state competition three years ago and placed 17th in nationals. i think i know what im doin but all i need to know is if the rotor will hold up if i drill it myself. all i need is someone who has a drilled rotor to make a pattern for me and i will drill it up.

you cant just go to pep boys and get a rotor and drill it, itll warp/crack because the metal they are made out of isnt made to get rid of heat quckly like the real slotted ones are.
edit: idiots on ebaly try this all the time, and people buy them and get pissed off because they fuck up after a month.

I slot my own. I think I'm on like my 4-5 set. I cut the slot to the minium thinkness of the rotor but the ones sold are alot deeper than that.
I dont see to many people in racing using cross drilled, like NASCAR. The ones that are I would suspect are cast that way, rally cup some do. I know in general there prone to cracking so I have always stayed away from them.
If id do it I'd camfer the holes some maybe even get them cryo treated. Without CNC it be a PIA long time so I doubt you see them on my rig anytime soon.
