My work is getting out of stereos. I can get a 1200 watt 4 channel Volvenhag amp, and a 800 watt 2 channel Volvenhag amp(german). Nice amps/w built in fans and neons. For next to nothing.
What do you think....too much power, or go for it? It'll be running two 10's, 6 1/2's and 5 1/4's.

Your hearing will be bad when you get older. Get some ear plugs if you crank it up all the way. Just messing with ya man.

I don't think it will be to bad a deal. Just make sure that the speakers can handle it. I'm no sound-system buff, but go for it.

if you set it up good, do it and start competing, just for the hell of it... and i'd like to know the quality of those volvenhag products... i've thought about getting one of thier subs a couple years back, but it never materialized... i kinda wish you'd open it up and take a pic of the internals of the amp... the quality of the workmanship tells a lot about how well things will work and how long they will last...

but no, 10kilowatts isn't too much... just don't play it too loud or you'll have hearing damage, a headache, and lots of tickits :p

I brought most of it home tonight. It is actually 2200 watts, 4 channel 1200 watt, and 2 channel 1000 watt.
The install kit has a 1.2 Farad capasitor, and everything to install both amps. I had to order another box, those Volfenhag 10's are 8 inches deep!! They are monsters.
I will try to get pics of all of it, the best part is its all costing me bout $350!!

nice deal man! I was gonna tell you to go for it, but you beat me to it.
You might want to upgrade your alternator, but otherwise it sounds like you're set!
Get some pics up for the rest of us!

im sorry but if an amp comes with neons, isnt that expensive, AND boasts massive amounts of wattage, its probably going to be crap.

My bud has a 1600 watt amp connected to a pair of 12's and a 400 connected to a pair of 8's in his Hyundai. Hits like a sledgehammer and is loud as hell. Put your subs in an enclosure tuned for them and it will sound superb.

not always, and the only reason their insanely cheap is because he works at the place and they are no longer selling the stuff, as he said in the original post.

any amp can say XX amount of wattage, id have to see real spec sheets or see them in action, for example, many volfenhag/pyramid/boss/legacy/poweracoustik etc amps say like 1200w or somthing like that on them, when in reality if you get 500wrms combined power out of it, youre doing good. The only good cheaper amps ive seen give rated power or beyond are Profile amps and (the only newer lanzar i can reccomend, the newer stuff sucks) lanzar 1200d (measured 1350wrms at 1ohm reactive load)

yea that just means you have the capabilitys for 2200 watts,

I bet you'l be pumping about 1000 rms through the whole car

PLEASE tell me how thoughs subs sound, I have been contemplating them for awhile now.

let me know man....

Yeah, I will let you know Scott. I just have to wait for my box to get here, then I'm installing it all.
And I realize the rated watts are not true power output, but it sure is better than deck power!!
My boss has a set of the 12's and he really likes em, but he has an open air box. I'm going to run a sealed box, so it will hit HARD. And I listen to rock, so it'll be nice.

what i hate is the people rollin around school with their subs, and it sounds like shit b/c all you can hear is their trunks rattling because of the vibration

it sound pretty good, its not too much but make sure your subs/speakers can handle the wattage or they'll blow

Got it all in, hits pretty hard. Still tweaking on it though, I don't think I'm getting the full potential from it yet.
Very very loud! And I'm surprised how much bass you lose when the back seat is up??? What has everyone done to avoid that??

Put the backseat down :D. I have yet to see a midrange/lowend car amp put out anywhere near what it's rated at even at peak. I had a "3120watt" system in the SE-i and as long as I didn't play it while the car was idleing or off for more then a couple minutes the electrical system was more then capable of handling it. As far as neons go, there cheap really and draw very little current compared to even the lights in your gauge cluster for the amount of light they throw. BTW you could also vent your rear deck to get more bass.

I think I'm gonna try that Hostile. Just cut some large round holes in the deck and leave the cover in tact though.

if its ported just run the ports up to the holes in the rear deck next to the speakers. Put a separate cover there to hold it. Sounds killer. Ive done that a few times now. The problem is the 3rd light rattling so get a spoiler and rip that thing out

The length of the port is going to make a difference in how they sound. I'd be careful if you do that.

you just keep that in mind when you raise it up to the rear deck. I put a flase rear wall in mine so i could push the ports tight to the rear deck and seal the side with butell rubber and screw on the wood. worked killer. i wish i saved those specs i want to rebiuld that box.

I ported a hole in the fold-down middle armrest in my sedan. I use to have a 2400w 2 channel amp that I was running 2 12" with. I had the gain down and still managed to toast the amp. I need to fix that bad boy though. Im getting ready to start the system on the Supra...
