Anyone who has done the B20 swap knows that one of the differences is that the B20 has an electronic advance distributor, in contrast to the A20 having vacuum advance.

My question is this: People who cannot locate a B20 ECU for their swap have been told that they can use the A20's ecu with the vacuum advance distributor. Would it be possible to use a B20 ECU along with it's electronic advance distributor on an A20? What differences and gains, if any, would this produce?

you would need to find an electronic advance distributor that will fit on the A20A... :(

You can look at the 88-91 ludes or 86-89 tegs to see if they're compatible or not.

If its like that why not use the ecu out of a teg or prelude.

well i'm sure the a20 doesn't have the necessary sensors required for the b20 ecu, it would need some sort of pickup, probably a crank angle sensor.

efi a20a has a crank angle sensor in the distributor.
