My accord has been sitting up for a little bit,
and now when i start it, it idles at 2500-3k rpm for about 5 minutes untill the engine warms up.

It has 180k miles on it, and im wondering if the choke is slightly stuck or something, you know, old gummy joints etc.

Check the coolant level, possibly a lot of air is in the system and is messing with the high idle. You could try spraying inside the TB and the butterfly b/c it could be all gummed up. Check to make sure the throttle cable isn't getting hung up for some reason also.

You might just need to replace or adjust the high idle conrol valve, here is a thread on that:

Search the EFI tech for many other possible solutions to your problem.

EFI has no choke. That's only for the carbed models.

OK, then your car is not LXI. "I" stands for injected. Your car is an LX model, then. This changes everything -- you probably have a carb problem. But it is normal to have the car rev 2.5-3k rpm during warmup. Are you having high idle problem after it warmed up?

No its fine after warmup, its just anoying as the warmup takes a bit.

I don't know what up with the emblem... maybe the previous owner wanted to look 'cooler' with it. But if you have a carb, it is perfectly normal to have fast idle for 5 minutes or so, until the engine warms up.

you can lower the fast idle setting, it's a tiny phillips-head screw on the back of the thrttle bracket, it's a gold screw with a yellow paint mark on it from the factory

if you email me i can send you a pic, bass106149@yahoo

Found the prob, the return spring on my accelerator linkage is weak, or gummy.
