In my everlasting quest for odd things honda, I am working on a new mod and need to know the easiest way to hook up a delay to a wire (I hold a momentary switch and it waits 1-3 seconds to activate)

i found this: http://www.machmat.com/sales/kits/startupdelay.htm

Is there anything more basic like a capacitor/resistor/relay combo? I'm not to keen on transistors, I have a lot to learn

The windshield wiper use an adjustable delay circuit... maybe you can build something like that... but then again it would cycle I guess which might not be what you want. I think the transistor is nescessary but I found one without.

let me get the pics

here is a link you might want to look at too.

On the 555 timer circuit, the output pin 3 will go high (+12vdc) when the timer times out. It has an output capability of 250ma. If you connect a relay to it make sure to connect a diode across the power terminals of the relay like in the diagram above the 555 one. The diode should be connected with reverse polarity. ground of the diode on the +12 and the positive of the diode on the ground. Do not connect this backward or you will burn out the 555. To trigger the 555 you need to connect the trigger line of the 555 to ground for the duration of the time delay.
