How do you know it's bad? I remember testing mine once. You apply vacuum to it with a manual pump and it is supposed to make the engine stall.

Go figure.

carb cars don't have the metal egr-lift sensor on top, and i think 86-87 lxi's were the same as the carb ones

I have an '89 Accord SE-I and am getting a Code 12 on the ECU. I see that is an EGR Lift Sensor code.

Any ideas -- does it mean I need a new EGR valve or just the sensor? I see where the EGR is but don't know where the sensor is? I am a newbie here so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

TD

BTW I have a helluva idle problem and have to put in N at stoplights and rev to about 2000 rpm just to keep from stalling. Then N drop (on an Automatic :( ) If not it either stalls or severally hesitates with no power and then all of a sudden it goes with full power. Related issue or different?? Not only on startup pretty much all the time even after engine warms up

Accord-SEI-89 I think the sensor is just under the valve thingy. Pop the side retainers off, you should see the some sensor device there (I think, I pulled one off the yard, looks like a sensor). But don't quote me on this. Your idle problem should be the egr.

Here's an article, read the "Hotline help" section.
