1988 lxi......needs to be faster!!!

I just bought a 88 Honda Accord LX-I which is a pretty phat car but damn, it doesnt pick up at all. theres barely any acceleration well there is but i like to go fast.

i just wanted to know what is the best way for me to increase my acceleration with little money.

or what is the best part i can buy thats not that expensive to increase my acceleration.

oh and its a automatic.

well first of all you can put in a manual transmission :D But seriously, a tune-up would help I am sure. Spark plugs, wires, 02 sensors, oil change, tranny fluid. You could also add a cold air intake, exhaust, header. Those are the most basic things.

turn the timing wide ass open and run 93....if you can get high octane where you are out back it off till the ping disappears. I would also ditch the auto but is is a tough job.

I seriously doubt this will give you any extra power... Try putting on a cold air intake, and if you can't do that just slap a regular intake in there.

Longer pipe, better filter, less money, better peformance and can be bought at a variety of speed shops much more common to have in stock.

Besides you mutilated your stock springs instead of getting the proper ones so whats the diff.

Weapon R isn't even a good intake now if u want my opinion i think that if ur goin to do something go the whole way not just get a crapy intake that's goin to give u 5 hp tops, so i recomend either getting an Arospeed front-mouned cold air intake or an AEM cold air intake.

Well lots of people here enjoy their shortram very much but not too many have a cai. Why because no one makes them for our cars. Now the reson people do not like weapon r is because of price and poor peformance.

Alright, I can see where your coming from about the weapon r intake, but seriously c'mon your talking about some stupid ass shit here:

A longer pipe doesn't necessarily ensure better air flow unless it is a directed cold air or ram air intake system (which obviously these are not). The filter is in no way a better design then a K&N filter or any of the sort, they are all virtually the same damn filter. Not to mention that the price issue is bullshit, I could get a weapon r intake (As an example) on ebay, new, for probably $75 where at a performance shop it could cost me up to $175 because of the mark up on the damn thing, so really price depends on where you get it from. And lets not get into performance, it's just an intake, I think the most hp that i've ever heard of an intake gaining for the car was about 7, and if weapon r is capable of pushing 5hp, well thats good enough for me but really, an intake isn't even a high performance piece unless it is a ram air, so what the hell does it matter, not to mention weapon r just came out w/ a new piece which enables you to convert your intake to a ram air system, Here (http://www.weapon-r.com/ramair.html). And mabey a shop might have it in stock which makes it easier to obtain, but I'd rather purchase my products from a larger dealer such as Nopi so that I am sure that im getting a quality piece instead of something that could very well be a refurbished piece of shit (like I have found in a few local shops), plus if I get it from a larger dealer it is almost always guaranteed to be in stock and in many cases will come w/ a money back guarantee if the product is faulty (I've never seen a shop that sells aftermarket products that can guarantee me that except for the Summit Racing depot here).

I suppose I deserve that comment about my springs, but I did that because I'm getting my coilovers in a month and it was an example to my friends and I as to what my car will look like when I'm done lowering it. So I guess in response to your question "whats the diff" well the "diff" is that people who strap 92 civic intakes are strapping rigged items on their car which can sort of come off as cheap all so that they can get 2 more hp, and me cutting my springs was an example of what my car will look like when I actually do it right with the parts that are designed for the car. http://86-89accord.com/3geez/smilies/pissed.gif

I don't know where you guys shop but I can get the tube that I need for the custom intake for $40 bucks and a K&N cone filter for like $20-$25... So I can have an intake that is way better than that gay ass weapon R intake for like $60-$65 bucks. It'll even look better than yellow or red "foam"...lol.
