The tech distributer has an ignitor mounted on the front of it, you will see a chrome square with a screw on the bottom and top, that would be the ignitor cover.

Another way to tell is look at the bottom of dist. The Tec is shaped like a D and the Hitachi is round. Usually carbed engines have Hitachi and fuel injected have Tec.

also i think the TEC distributor has romen numerals on it marking which # each plug goes to. the Hitachi has no numbers or numerals marking which spark is which.
