It's not tape it's more like a heat resistant fiber strip... about 2" wide.
It does burn slightly and it will go from a light brown to a dark brown and it'll smell funny for a while while it smokes.

I bought some DEI Exhaust wrap, it does increase exhaust gas temp which helps flow. It also increase the temp of the metal and other engine parts to some degree... this can add fatigue to the metal and cause it to warp or crack...

It lowers engine bay temps though. :)

Try to limit oils from leaking onto the exhaust wrap.

You might be refering to thermo-tec heat tape... but that isn't ment for headers.... Thermo-Tec sells an exhaust wrap as well though.

Yes you can wrap your Header with heat tape.

Yes you can wrap your Header with heat tape.

Which tape did you use?

I didn't use a tape but I was just correcting the Header Headers thing. Unless he's got a different motor with more cylinders than we do its header.

I thought about using the DEI wrap before but I heard that moisture can build up and rust out the metal so I just painted mine.

lol... I didn't even notice the error...

Anyways 4dr, It's probably better to jet hot coat the header... it still locks in heat and it looks nicer then a wrap.
