Well I pulled out all my interior so that I could clean the carpet and find the water leak in the car. Well I dident figure out where the leak is, but looking at that 9ft tall shifter  I decided to make it into a short shifter.

Nice I did the same thing awhile back, but I didn't make it that short. Just gotta love how it shifts now compared to stock. :D

No kidding on that one, it's just a flip of the wrist and your in the next gear. I wish they hadent put such an extreme bend at the bottem of the shifter. It would shifter faster ans feel better if the shifter went strait up.

wow, looks like you made the REAL short shifter, by the diagram. unlike some people that have just a shortened upper stalk. did you weld any on it? on that bottom portion how did you cut and put it back together? welding? we wanted to do something like that on my friends car.

I used a hack saw to cut the top and the bottem, then I used my friends welder. The only problem I was having is that the shifter is hallow and the metal melts at a low degree, so you kinda have to be carefull when welding.

That is alot shorter than my pacesetter adjustable can go! Looks good and hopefully it lasts long for you. Get some poly bushings for that shifter and it'll make quite a difference, there only about $15.

I am not sure if I will be using this shifter with my motor swap. I have heard that all I have to do is extend the factory shif linkage :dunno: , but this will be a problem I work on when I start the swap.
