How good are the headlights being sold on Ebay? (Diamond cut/ Diamond Cut Comanche) I want the kind of bulbs that can have the hyperwhite in them. Are these the right ones? Does it call for any modifications to my current light housing?? I have the stock pop up lights. PLease help?!?!?

yes those are the ones that can use hyper white/hid lighting and you dont need to do any modifications they go in just like your stock ones. Its an awesome upgrade i really like mine :)

whats cool about them is you can change out the bulbs to whatever you want and not have to worry about replacing the whole light itself b/c unlike stock its not a sealed beam.

Some H4 conversons also leak, you can make a cover for the headlights so when there down and it's raining or your washing your car thay don't fill with water. I didn't have any problems with mine when raining only when washing, but now i have the covers and there's no problem at all.

The diamond back ones are junk. If you are going to upgrade go ahead and get a set of 4" x 6" Projectors. I have a set on the coup enad they are MUCH better than the junk ass ebay ones. Not to mention that these dont have the lame small blue light in them that causes water to leak in when the lights are down. They cost a little more (140-200 a set) but are well worth it.

those glass front lights vinny? i won't buy any unless they are... i don't mind the extra expense when the time comes...

Theres a big difference between the diamond cut lights and projectors. I see the diamond cut ones all the time but its rare to see the projectors that fit the accord, 4" x 6" on ebay.

I spent the money for the projectors so I could go HID later. I wouldnt be able to do that with just diamond cuts

Yupp they be glass. I don't know if the cheapy plastics would hold up if you put HID's in them

with HIDs? i've seen some of them fail due to heat with the bulbs they come with... i would only buy GOOD ones, and these are almost exactly what i've been all over the 'net looking for... thanks for the pics vinny

I have a set of H4's from Midnight Moose (midnightmoose.com). They are not diamondback or projector, but the lens produces a very even light pattern with a sharp cutoff. They have glass lenses and have not leaked in three years - without adding any extra shielding.

What is also nice about these lights is you can change the bulbs without removing the housing. You can get to them with the hood open and the headlights in the closed position.

Man vinny, those headlights look great can you post some pictures at night with the headlights on? Also what bulb are you running in them now and are they bright enough for regular driving?

Vinny

They are more than bright enough for regular driving and definitely a huge improvement over the stock headlights. I believe the bulbs are PIAA's. You have to point/aim them down quite a bit over the stock bulbs. When I first put them in I was lighting up the tops of pine trees a hundred or so yards away

I purchased the diamond cut ones off from ebay for $16. Honestly, I like them a lot. The stupid little blue 'city' lights were dumb, so I didn't bother hooking them up, and I installed both lights upside down, with the citylight on the bottom. I haven't had any leaking issues yet. The only problem with them are the bulbs: It uses an H4 style bulb, and they usually come with some ricey blueish bulb that doesn't give off much light. Once it rains, it's impossible to see anything. I bought a set of Wagner Extra Bright h4s, and WOW. They supposedly put out 20% more light than stock bulbs, and its INCREDIBLE. It is a more yellowy light, but who cares. You can see great. All in all a very worthwhile upgrade.

And no offense... I think those projectors look kinda goofy on a 3g. It just doesn't 'fit' with the car. Looks kinda half assed.... but, to each his own.

On the contrary, i hated my pos Diamond headlights. Cant see crap at night even with the suprewhite bulbs that i got from Corey. Got it for $40 a pair, sold that shit for $40 a pair. I am on stock headlights now, and i like them better than the diamond crap. If i ever get a replacement headlight, it will be either Hella (they make H4 conversions).

maybe you didnt have your lights positioned right? i can see so much better with the ebay H4's. I even have them pointed out wider so i can see the sides of the roads for those pesky deer!

That's probably because of your bulbs. Superwhite= blue coating that reduce the lumens of light output. Sure, the 'temperature' of the light is higher, but the sheer number of lumens is lower. When I first installed the diamond lights with the blueish whitish bulbs, it was significantly WORSE than stock. Now with the xtravision bulbs, it's MUCH MUCH better than stock. Your problem is that you used ricey bulbs.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get the darn bumper lenses out so that I can put in the clear ones. They came with absolutely no instructions!!!

Chicane
03-23-2005, 04:46 PM
Sure. Pop up your headlights. There are a couple philips screws holding the ... wait.. bumper lenses? Or headlights?

HostileJava
03-23-2005, 04:48 PM
Well I think you posted in the wrong thread, but you stick the screwdriver up from underneath them where the foglight hole is and you should see a single screw holding them in. After that pull the side out that you unscrewed first and then slide the otherside out.

so which headlights would give a nice clean cut-off? i have some sylvania stock replacements in right now, but it seems like when i turn on my brights, all i see is the branches of the trees above me.

You sure you don't have them installed upside down? Sorry I had to ask.

I like the diamond cut with the superwhite silver stars. I haven't seen the projection in person though.

praveen, have you checked your ground wires?? if your wiring is old and wearing out, your light output will suck no matter what bulb setup you have.

For H4's, i've never seen anything that beats the Sylvania Silverstars. Although at $20+ a pop, they're not cheap, but they do last. I've seen a lot of other H4 bulbs burn out with the quickness.

they are perfectly good Caleb. The stock ones are much brighter than the H4s i had. It was just not spreading right. it looked cool, but failed to serve the purpose. But im happy with my stock ones now. Not gonna get one but if i do, im getting the Hellas.

I actually know what praveen is talking about. The first set I got cast light in a wierd pattern and it was harder to see. I got a different brand though and they look good.

Honestly, with the high output and Silverstar halogen sealed beams the light output is probably about as good as the H4's. If the reflector and lens design of the housing is good (like the set of Marchals I had on my old Pontiac) the light distribution on the ground is nice and even - with no dark spots. Plus, they shine their beams higher on the right side than the left, improving illumination while reducing glare for oncoming drivers. With all of the low cost "diamond cut" lights out there some are good and some are bad.
