i have two 1986 hondas' one is a dx and the other is an lxi.
my question is could i put the 1986 lxi engine into the 1986 dx?
the lxi ofcourse has fuel injection, and the dx has a carberator.
will i be able to switch without switching cpu?

Carb motors don't have an ECU so you will have to switch. Do a search about the EFI conversion. There is also a how-to in the how-to forum. Look there, read it, then come back with questions.

You can use the LXi engine is the DX. Just install the carburetor stuff on the LX-i engineand it will work. Of course, you will get close to no performance gains out of this (if this was your goal) If you just want to replace the engine with a good unit, the LX-i will work fine.

If you wanted to have Fuel injection in your DX, follow what SteveDX89 said.
