Where could I go to find out Honda's production line info. I want to know what was the first VIN to hit American shores. My friend has an 86 LX that was made in 85. I'll have to look at the VIN. The first ones here should be Japanese made right??? or did the US plant make the first USDM cars???

to my knowledge the only US made 3gs were the Coupes. All other sedans and hatches that I have seen were JHM.

If my memory serves me right, the 86-87 Accords were imported from Japan. My Accord is a sedan chassis and was made in US so coupes weren't the only ones to be manufactured in the US. It is possible that an 86 Accord was actually produced in 1985 because in Japan the car models come out one year earlier than in US. Just my $.02

My 87 sedan was 1HG.

Honda was building Accords in Marysville since '82. They switched from the 85 to 86 Accords without even shutting down the line.

well, i can't vouch for all coupes, but i've seen coupes (seis) made here, and i know they were made over in japan, too...

and i own 3 sedans (2 88's and an 87), all built here in the US... i'm also holding a 1HG hatchback...

My 86 sedan was made in Saitamo Japan or something like that, and my mothers 88 sedan was Ohio. Mine was made in 1985 also

Gung Ho with Michael Keaton...Heeeee fuckin'-larious movie. I think George Wendt from Cheers was in it too. I used to have the movie poster balled up in the back of my 84 Accord. They were building Japanese econo boxes, the car on the poster which has them all standing in the engine bay looks suspiciously like a cross between a 2nd Gen Accord sedan and a Toyota Camry.

But seriously does anyone know where we can get 3Gee production line info??? There must be a Japanese site somewhere, or a Honda corporate records data base that we can access. It might be too weird to know that much about the birth of your Accord. I wonder if any of the 3 Gees are enchanted or haunted by workers killed on the assembly line...okay so I wrote this bit while drinking... :uh:

Vigors are a strangebeast. Aren't they Legend/Teg crossbreeds with 5 cylinder motors?!?!?!?!? I've seen them but never paid much attention. They had a weird motor series like G or something???? Any Vigor experts on here???

I do. As always.

In Japan, the 3G Accord came in a few flavors.

Accord

Accord Inspire

Civic Accord

Vigor For Men

Only difference was the name, options, taillights, and headlights. It only had the A20A.

haahaa "Honda Vigor For Men" is the official name of it. The Vigor didn't become it's own car until the JDM 1989.9/USDM 1990 model with 5 cylinder G series motor.

Also whoever said the coupe were also from Japan...this in untrue. The coupes were all made in Hohio, it was infact the first "Japanese" car to be produced in the US, and then exported back to Japan for sale.

Another note: The 3G coupe in GT4 has the specs of the JDM "Accord Coupe Export Edition" and not the USDM "Accord LXi" coupe. It has 118 HP, which is 120 PS, which JDM coupes are rated at, and not the 122 HP, that USDM PGMFI coupes have.

................... not the 122 HP, that USDM PGMFI coupes have.

there is no 122hp people. Its always 120hp and 122ft.lbs. Why do everyone get this shit right even after this long?????? :uh:

PS: Seems like we need to put these number on the God damn front page or make everyone read these before they can even sign on .

note: Sedans were made in Japan and in the US, i had a 4door 89 (JHM) and a 4 door 88 (1HG). LIke everyone mentioned, the coupes were made here in the US and shipped back to Japan, Hatchies were always made in Japan. Fucking weird i might say.

If thats wrong, it's probably because someone, somewhere used a 122 PS designation. someone else may have randomly put HP in place of PS, thinking that there was no difference. That would prove your case, because 122 PS is 120 HP, if you're right.
