bad spot in the starter?
cable loose between the battery and starter?
start signal wire came off?

if all the cables are nice and tight, grab a long screwdriver or something and give the starter a few whacks. I'm not kidding. If you give it a few whacks and it works, then the start is going bad. Sometimes the starter shafts "lands" between contact points. If the magnets are weak of the shaft doesn't turn freely, it can stay stuck between those contact points. No contact=no power=no crank. whacking it a few times will usually bump it to the next contact point allowing you to use it.
