I just got my Centerforce Stage 1 put in and it says that it has a 450-500 mile break in period and I was wondering why I would have to do that.

Break in is critical so that the disc is able to seat to the pressure plate and flywheel, allowing the clutch to provide maximum hold. Running the car hard prior to break in will reduce life and could cause premature slippage.

You need to bed-in the friction surface so it will grip better on the pressure plate and flywheel. Otherwise the disc is likely to slip more and you may run out of friction material much sooner than you'd expect. You might be able to get away without doing it, but I'd take it easy at first as recommended since I hate pulling the transaxle.

Allright thanks guys I was just wondering because I have never heard of a clutch break in period. Yea it does suck putting that tranny back up it took a little while. I eventually just pulled out the bottom mount to do it.
