Hey guys, I got my Accord back for the third time and need to get a new engine for it. The problem is I want more power but have a really good tranny. I have access to a B20A for about $400 with less than 30,000 miles on it. Will it work with the tranny from my stock A20A3?

No, the A20 transmissions do not bolt up to the B20A. In fact, the B20A tranny is pretty much the only one that can work. Look in the FAQ for tranny codes and information on the B20A transmissions.

i believe you can make it work with an adapter plate... definately something to look at... a few h22 civic guys do this and it works out for them...

If its a USDM b20 you'll have mounting issues out the wazoo.
Easiest sol'n is to drop in a new A20]
good luck!

Get the B20A. Get an A20A to wait on the meantime. Drive with the more fresh A20A, until you can find a 5 speed B20A tranny, then swap.

It was the formula to my B16A swap. I blew up D16Z6, then wondered what to do. I ended up having a Z6 built for me, I drove around on it, and about a month later, I was able to do B16.

Patience. It's your best freind when dealing with cars.

I went to the races on friday night here and did some wheeling and dealing. I am gettin the B20A with the 5spd already on it. I ran into a guy that did this conversion and he said that i have to shave about three inches off the inside wheel well, and fabricate new motor mounts. I consider that worth it if i can get that engine and tranny both for $400 together and get them to fit. Is there any other problems that i should watch out for, as in vaccuum lines and such?

If you're making motor mounts.... just drop a newer B series engine.
