While replacing my old tranny with a junkyard one, I got to a stopping point when I was not able to attach the new release bearing (throw out bearing to some) to the release spring. Turns out the release spring in the junkyard tranny had the tabs missing; they were broken off right at the bend. So I decided to replace it with the one I had in my old tranny. Upon inspection though, I could see that one of the tabs had a groove about half way through it already! Good thing I happened to check. A new one is only $2.80 at Majestic, so needless to say, I've got one ordered. Just thought I'd share this though, as I could see someone overlooking this rather easily, then wondering what happened to their transmission a few more miles down the road :).
