OK guys i told you how my rear tranny mount bolts basically fell out... you know, the ones near the differential. The threads in the tranny case are really stripped badly, so i loaded the bolts up with jb weld and tapped them into the tranny with the tranny being supported by a jack... has anybody ever had a problem like this? Ever try and fix threads with JB weld? Hahah im soo ghetto

don't be surprised if that JB weld doesn't hold. I really would have heli-coiled those holes. it's cheap and the best repair you can do.

ive done magic with jb weld before... if it has time to set its usually ok if the surface is oil free... Im leaving it overnight. IF that doesnt work im gonna tap it out for bigger bolts

Migger bolts will be ok. However an helicoil will allow you to use stock size bolts and will be have stronger threads than the stock aluminium cast

you can always use alumaloy (http://www.alumaloy.net/) . weld it shut, drill the hole and tap it. it will be much much stronger and it will look like stock.
i have used it on my intake when i did 2bbl holley conversion. it worked great. all you need is propane or butane torch. it is very easy.

I would drill a hole, use a cotter pin or somthing.

i have one but i dont wanna waste it over these ghey bolts... Im gonna go to a 12mm/1.25mm thread and just tap the stock 10mm thread out to a 12mm thread... this should be stupid easy esp in aluminum.

hey spend the dough and use a helicoil its alot stronger than a tapped aluminum and if the stainless fails than your know theres something wrong. Just like everything else take your time and go slow and right

yeah. I got it to hold i think, i drove in bolts that are like... i think 1/2" with a 3/4 head on em... seems to be good for now. I have a total of 6 stripped bolt holes on this tranny, so if this doesnt work im gonna shitcan this gearbox

you know, with as many times as you have fixed this one stripped bolt, you could have fixed it right and drank a 6 pack of beer?

heli-coil set -- $5
installing helicoil -- two hours including cleanup
knowing you did the job right -- priceless
