Is there a gasket that goes b/w the flanges of the different sections of the exhaust pipes? i pulled down the one from my sedan(after nothingi tried worked on the bolts and i just sawzalled that bitch) and there was no gasket. would it be a good idead to put a gasket or does it really not matter? lemme know.

if i remember correctly, where header meets downpipe, there are 2 metal rings that make tight seal.

There should be a round gasket that fits inside the groove in the flange.

if your talking about the triangleish shaped flange then yes. its an O shaped gasket. its not the same one as the 2 gaskets on the catalytic converter or 1 on the down pipe. it is the same on carbed and fi models. $5-$9 from honda, i'd just get a felpro one from a parts store. that's what i've used and they work good with no leaks when you tighten the flange down to spec.

You are talking about the last flange before the muffler, right. If so the torque is 16 ft lbs.

I took my muffler off once and when I put it back on I just got it fairly tight. There's not really anything that you over-torque, and being under torque shouldn't do much. I usually just get things about as tight as they were when I took it off.
