View Full Version : Clear Bumper lights yet again

so i did the quick project of taking out the amber insert, everything went smooth, i tried to search for this earlier but didn't end up finding to much on the plastic in specific... i'm using the plastic that was there but the last 17 years of dust and rocks knicking away at the plastic has left it dull and what not...we have a little dremel tool here so i bought some buffing supplies for it and worked it over the plastic a but it it took a long time since its so small and even grabbed a bit in one of the knicks and made a deeper mark, otherwise they definately look a lot better then they did -- don't really have a big wheel here though i bet that would work perfect... was wondering what others use to maybe replace the plastic.. i heard plexi glass maybe? and where could i might find these to purchase them :D, or should i just try and buff out all the marks myself? P.S going to get a picture.. lol just cause :)

I just read that and couldn't alot of sense out of that. Anyways, just go into a junkyard and grab a cleaner set. it seriously isn't worth the trouble of replacing the plastic.

Mine where really bad so I figured why not if it burns the plastic Im getting new ones anyway. Ive got a vairiable speed makita buffer set at 800 rpm with alot of hard cutting compound. Dont push hard at furst till you know the limits buyt it took it down pretty quick once i got the hang of it. Maybe 30 minutes total. Finished with 3m polishing compound for dark cars. Oh and just incase you dont get it. put the polisher on the ground facing up with the trigger locked so your pushing the plastic down.
