Intermittant A/C idle boost

The A/C idle boost is intemittant on my '88 Accord LX. Sometimes the car idles at normal, sometimes at ~500 RPM (shakes car and doesn't cool real well). I tested the vacuum part of the system with a vac pump and it always brought the idle up. I think the problem is electrical. I haven't yet tested the solenoid , need to get some loose wire first. But putting a meter on leads to it showed something like 0.3V IIRC. What is the typical problem? Is it a wiring fault or the computer?

did you try tweaking the screw at the back of the idle adjuster? Worst case I'm sure you can just tap a new electrical signal from the compressor clutch
