Ok , Ive taken my car to the track, and all I have changed is the intake, no more cold air, just strait off the intake, And my times are way off, went from 10.7 in the 8th to 11.00, what the fuck!! shouldnt make that much difference... Im thinking that mabe my fuel pump may be getting weak, only has 216k on it. Does it sound like that could be a possible problem to anyone... I dont have a fuel press guage, Also I think I read somewhere that you could use the fuel pump out of the prelude, Is this an upgrade? if so what years...

dhcarss: did u try again with the cold air?
try putting the piping from the tb as far from the heat of the engine but without the cone filter at the end, work wonders for me
reset the ecu, might help

The best thing for you to do on the fuel pump would be to go to your local honda shop and have them pull the honda part numbers for the 87 prelude Si and your accord and see if the fuel pumps match. Most likely they do, but I'm not sure how the tank is on the accord. Also, the prelude has two fuel filters. I'm not sure if the accord has both, either.

As for the loss of time on the track, it may also be due to spinning your tires out a bit more than previously. usually a CAI helps with horsepower, but a short ram will bump up the torque. The torque might cause you to be losing some grip if you're just running stock sized tires (i think they're 185 on the accord, just like the prelude). I've got 205 series tires on my car and I still manage to make them spin a good bit on launches. Some spin is good (tires get maximum grip at 5-10% slip) but excessive spin will lose you time.

There's a lot more factors that go into it.. and your post is a bit vague. You should always run the track 3 times and get an average of your runs, and see how varied they are. If you've got a lot of time diference in the best and the worst run.. then you need to work on becoming a better driver before worrying about making your car better. If you think of anything else on this, just post back here.

I have the pacesetter header, intake cleaned out the converter, msd coil, taylor wires, and the springs helped with the launch, my best is 10.65 in the 8th, and a 2.18 60 foot, Thanks for the info niphty, very good info, never thought about the intake differences like that, about shorter giving more torque, and so on, I put the cold air back on, but havent been back to the track, will let you know what happens. thanks again.

Well, I ran last night, my best last night was 10.9, thats with the intake on, and now I have a new muffler, but I did also add the new wheels and Im thinking that my hole problem now is my clutch, I mean I thought these things would last forever. haha. I have to say I have put this clutch though some shit. Im suprized it still drives. But I guess I will try to get my prelude trans fixed and then put it in along with as clutch.

That was with grandspirit aqua flows on stock wheels. I also put some spring helpers in the rear springs to stiffin it up.. worked pretty good.. I cant wait to get my clutch in and try a good run with the zex kit.. My 60 ft times will be shit with that..

did those spring helpers help much? i want to stiffin up my rear springs so it doesnt sqaut as much when i launch. also did u have to raise it any? is it the square black hard rubbers ones? or those metal ones?

thanx
