This one puzzles me, and like i said i've never had a carburated car before. The problem is that some times the car will go into high idle when i start it even though it's warm. When i start it in the morning it will high idle (around 2K, though i haven't paid too much attention, i go back in the house while the car warms up) then it'll kick down by itself after about 5 min. Then it idles just fine, but if i go somewhere, turn the car off then restart it, it goes into high idle again, eventhough i just drove 20 mi. I checked for vaccum leaks and didn't see any. What else do i check? I was thinking about spraying some carb cleaner in there because it sounds like something is sticking. What do you guys think???

This "high idle" is set by electrical choke - choke heater (CH). When u stop, even when engine is warm, the CH cools faster than the engine (coolant), so the choke (bimetallic spring) may set the last high idle step (out of 4 steps).
I would say is normal behavior to all 3g carb.
