alright.. so myu transmission has been a bit flaky as of late and i've been putting off fixing it becuse of a serious lack of funds. now that i've got the funds.. i can't find anyone who'll touch my car with anything due to it being as old as it is and being a front wheel drive. i can't even find anyone who'll diagnose the problem.. just people directing me to other people who direct me to other people etc. so.. i turn to thee, members of 3geez.com to aid me in what could be either something big.. or a bunch of nothing big.

first off.. i'm having a lot of trouble shifting, most of the time i have to put the car in gear before i start it or it doesn't go into first or reverse. there is a lot of grinding in during shifts. somtimes i can't get out of one gear at all. there is a significant loss of power sometimes, like 4th and 5th gears at around 3500 rpm.. goes from 3500 to 5000 suddenly and no real power driving the car. i can be at a stop sign with foot all the way down on the clutch and the car might still want to be driving. it's really annoying.. i've gotten used to most of it and i only really drive about 10 miles a day right now.. so it's not that much of a hassle, but i loves my babies and i want them to grow up big and strong.. so i need to have her fixed.. any ideas as to whats wrong? any ideas on how to fix it?

sounds like you're having some clutch troubles at least... check on getting a new clutch and a new flywheel (for the price of getting yours resurfaced, you can get a new lightened one through phrenology)

i don't have too much experience with the rest of the trans in these cars, but it all sounds like it very well could be clutch trouble

id guess its either your clutch, or the syncro (do our trannies even have syncros? :dunno: )

wow.. i can find a sport clutch and a lighter flywheel and everything... i was going to do that for the reason that with labor costs and everything replacing with better is often more economical and better than replacing with the same thing... but i really don't want to mess with trying to find a new transmission right now.. i'm planning on having a new engine built anyway and with that a transmission.. so it'd just be wasted money. but if i can get the clutch and flywheel and be alright then i'm down with that like gravity. thanks.
