Ok, I've checked brake fluid, and all lights and everthing is fine. Also checked
the park brake to see if it was causing lite. What else do I need to check for this? Brakes work ok, but whenever I get in and start car> then hit brake to put in gear, the "brake lamp" lite pops on.

check all the tail lights might have a stop light out and youll only see it if you push the brakes

go buy one or two new bulbs. replace them one or two at a time -- even though yours still work. sometimes the lights will still work, but their resistence fades below the replacement threshold. so, the idiot light pops on in the cluster.

also, remove all the bulbs from their sockets and clean the sockets well. nearly 20 years of crap builds up in there and can corrode the tiny contact points causing the idiot light.

Ok, so where's the sensor located??

It's the little black box thingy on the back of the taillight.

Yeah my brake lamp light stays on too. It's cus for the trunk lights, I'm running LED bulbs and I guess it runs on lower voltage than the rest of the bulbs so the sensor thinks my lights are out. It also happens when you use bulbs that are not the recommended OEM replacements. They may all look the same, but some have less wattage than others. Make sure you install the right bulbs.
