Okay I want your opinions. As most of you know I'm doing a full rebuild/swap with my 84' Accord. I'm trying to go as 3G as possible but for gauges I'm going back a step because there are no gauge upgrades for 2Gs and lude/teg/civic stock gauges are a no go without major mods.

I pulled this 83' Accord cluster (top pic) from the Junkyard with minimal difficulty yesterday. I was gonna swap it with the ugly stock 84' orange-glow gauge cluster (bottom pic).

I know the 83' is an auto and for a sedan that's why if I use it I'm gonna black the gear selector indicator and drop a new gauge into the center where the door warning lights are. I think a air/fuel gauge or oil temp would be useful. What do you guys think?

Too bad the 83' tach only goes to 7K! But they both hit 120 on the speedo.

put a nice Defi guage in the middle! :D

Oil pressure would be a nice one too or even a better water temp one.

get one of these cool Defi HUD. http://www.streetrays.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/28_549/products_id/8898

looks good, are you going to modify the gauge face at all, like update the look?

can you cut that door indicator out without messing up the circuitry?

having the 83 tach peg at 7k would be fun ... it would seem like you're spinning the engine a lot faster when the little needle goes from one side to the other so quickly!

keep up the good work, chief. when are you coming to visit the bay again?

i like the look of the '83 gauge how it is. i think the door indicator adds to the look.

Dude, I'm gonna modify it if I use the 83' Auto! :uh:

I would stay with the 84 Cluster. I had an 85 and I miss the way it looked.

Hell yeah! Go with the old school! I just ordered an analog clock for my LX and I'm lighting it with blue LEDs to give it a modern old school look. I'll post pics when I get it in.

Actually, I'll post pics of my regular gauges too. I pulled out the green filters on the bulbs and replaced the bulbs with blue LEDs. The result is a very modern look at night, but still stock in appearance.
