I've been noticing less and less 3Gs at the junkyards lately, as they seem to be making room for newer models. The two pick-your-part places that I frequent are now including early '90s models in the "old" section, and the 3Gs that were there are being removed and crushed! Have you guys being seeing this elswere as well? Pretty soon, parts maybe a thing of the past, eh? :sadwave:

There will be one time where parts for the 3g accord will be rare...... I fear that moment!

As long as they have most of the parts at the dealer, we're ok (but ruined hehe)

Start getting used to it. The 3g is about 20 years old.

Yeah, now I'm really glad I grabbed the "rare" parts that I did:
SE-i rear brake conversion
Center console armrest
Cup holder insert
SE-i steering wheel w/ stereo controls
OEM foglights w/ wiring and switch

Wonder what other gems I should be looking out for? Hmmmm.....

nah it's still mostly 3g, older civic and ludes here. when there's a 4th or 5th gen accord around, the whole town comes and rape it in like 10 mins.

no shit man, i can hardly find a good junk yard with 3gees in it. the one i usually go to only has one, they already pulled and sold the engine and tranny i was going to get! anyway, that does suck. i'm going to probley pull a few heads and what ever i find to be "hard to find". i'm probley going to get a few more headlight buckets since they are easily damaged. nice to have a good strait bucket bracket. i already bought one set of pop ups i have sitting in my garage.

But, are any more coming in? There are still a few here too, but they have all been picked through pretty thoroughly, and I get the feeling the junkyards aren't interested in getting more. They seem to be trending towards stocking up on '90 and newer, and that is what I'm worried about.

well, last time i was in the yard here, they had 17 3geez, with a good 15 or so more ready to go into rotation. the ones in the yard were pretty much bare frames, though.

Lots of 3gs here. Always a couple in every jy, and many more on the road.

Peace.

ive never been to a junkyard looking for parts for a 3g... considering the closest one to me is 80+ miles away :sadwave:

ive noticed the opposite for the roads though, it seems everytime i go through town i see another person driving another 3g i havent seen before. Most of the time they are older people in there 30's most likely. Ive never seen a teenager driving one though.

there is a junkyard around here thats has 30+ that all still have the motors and tranny. Most of them are wrecked or missing small pieces, there are a couple that are in prestine condition and must have a blown motor or something, because the interior and exterior are in perfect condition. There are even a few with the Sei Armrest and cup holder, but they are not the same color as my interior (actually there was one grey one, but my freind broke the cup holder houseing when we were trying ot pull it off.  ).

P.S. just so you know you can still get the cupholder and armrest from the dealer, but not the front Lip :barf: .

i wonder how mucht he dealer would want for the SEI rear hubs (for the disc swap) and the sei rims. Probably still cheaper to find a junkyard and buy new rotors and such.

the rims from the dealer are not to bad, but the rear disk is realy expensive.

I can hardly find anything for my 84' Accord anymore. I haven't seen an 84-85 LX hatchback in the Junkyard in almost a year. I'm glad I nicked that 83' gauge cluster in good condition before it was junked. :nervous:

Well that is good to know that there are still a lot of them out there in junkyards. Like I said, there are still quite a few here too, but I get the feeling they won't be for much longer as they seem to be moving them out to make room for newer models. Maybe I ought to stock up on a couple of critical items, like cylinder head and transmission.

one of my rear brake pistons seized, so I found a used rear caliper in another city, but it turns out that the ebrake doesn't work on the "new" one, and I can't get another rear caliper anywhere, so now I'm forking over $150 for a rebuilt one.

if i have to, I'll move up to a 4G....
other than that. nah, I dont like 5 or 6Gs
I'd move up to a 4dr 7G though.

Junkyards around here have less 3Gs than they have had in the past 3-4 years though. Long live The 3G "them accords with the flip up lights" - Junkyard Worker

I have yet to check out a junkyard for my car. I think I should eventually, seems like they have proved worthy for most members who have visited the yards.
