I'm trying to tune up a recently purchased 89 Accord and I'm having some problems. I need to adjust the idle, but I can't find a good place to connect the tach to set the idle correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

it should already have a tach on the gauge cluster
the idle screw is on the throttle body, i made it so my car idles at 1000rpm in gear which is high, but it doesnt sound like its dying constantly and in park it idles at 1150 or so

automatic or carb?
and like said earler, there's a convenient tachometer jussst to the left of the speed-o-meter

He's got carb, it's LX
The idle screw is near the valve cover oil cap - side of the carburetor you have to remove the air cleaner to gain access to it. Automatic cars will need slightly higher idle then manual

Unfortunately, stock tachs are not terribly accurate when it comes to distinguishing between 650 RPM's and 790 RPM's.

get an inductive tach and connect it to the wire for spark plug #1

the fact that the tach goes up by 250 means its never accurate, and the needles too big to know where its really hovering at
