i have a 87 accord lx with the carb. i was wondering if dual carbs from a prelude would work?

if its a prelude of the same year, with an a20 yes... but i dont believe they have them, i dont know much about that sort of stuff so wait for some of the high tech guys to read this thread. :)

the intake manifold bolt pattern doesn't match. for $250, you can have a manifold built for the use of weber DCOE carbs, though.

hey doug its tyson, im thinking your outta luck ont he dual carbs, i would suggest the same as vanilla sky, from what iv read and reserche don i would say wait a bit, same some money, get DOCE carbs and the manifold to match, i believe if yuo check out the buy and sell area, there wasa guy that was selling a manifold for DOCE's, dont know if he still has it or not, but check it out, see what yuo can do

he sold it, but he bought it from wierracing, who posted them over on honda-tech before anybody knew about them here. i have contacted the person that built the manifolds, and said he can replicate the design for $250 each, which is a bargain for the piece of art the manifolds turned out to be.

i have seen 4 yamaha sidedrafts on a civic swapped with a b18...was pretty damn quick.

you can cut off the manifold flange from a prelude motor and mig weld on our flange, from the outside. sand the inside to remove any mess from the welding.

so yes. and yes, I've done it. it's not that hard. cut carefully. our intake manifolds have REALLY crappy casting sometimes (the carb ones).. but cut off the flange, and put it on the prelude carb manifold. cut the prelude carb manifold at an angle (at the flange) if needed if it angles up or down in a strange way. shouldn't. the cylinders have the same spacing, so this isn't that rough to do.

not worth it those are POS emissions equipped carbs and plus they're designed for a smaller displacement motor.
Get a weber 38/38 downdraft (or a pair of sidedrafts if you have the $$)

YEah right so your teling me that honda Fireblade with a 1000cc engine with well over 150bhp is going to use POS carbs!!! I don't think so, you can pickup Honda 1000cc carbs which have a 42mm bore size complete with linkages and mounts, all you nned to do is get an inlet manifold madeup, theirs been a company in the U.K that makes bike carb conversions and they regularily swap out bike carbs ontp FI cars and gain 30+bhp from 1.6l to 2.2L engines. Plus bike carbs can be re-jetted, and also if you really wanted to go made you could get some proper racing bike carbs from RS or Mikuni which have 40-50mm bore sizes and are completely adjustable. Also their's a 2G lude with a set of Bike carbs on that runs pretty good was built by the same guy who did the 2G lude drag car that runs ten second 1/4 miles so i doubt he's use crap parts some how!!
Bike carbs have been designed and improved for performance for the last 20 years they are no doubt the best carbs that money can buy now, they are even better than DCOE's from weber but these are still easier to setup and tune for people who like to fiddle with their setups.

Hmmm yeah stock lude carbs are POS far too small although are marginally better than stock A20A1 carb but not by much!! Even upgrading to two big newer bike carbs would be better, bu ti allways thought that one DCOE 48/50/55 would work quite well but if you gonna go to the trouble of having a new inlet manifold you might as well fit two!! or get 4 bike carbs.

That Civic is sick wonder what times it runs and power!!
