I changed my rotors, pads, and bled the lines a couple of months ago to attempt to make my brakes a little stiffer. I was an idiot, and bought the cheap rotors, and they warped within a week. I replaced those with a little bit better ones, and they were fine for about 2 or 3 months.

Just recently, i noticed some shaking when i would brake; the tell tale sign of warped rotors. I finally took the wheels off to check for warpage, and i didnt see any, but i did notice somthing. On the drivers side, the rotor, studs,(pretty much that whole piece) would move when i played with it. I mean, i could wiggle it, pushing on the top and bottom, it had some play. I didnt see how i could fix it, and i know its not suppost to be like that, so i just put the wheel back on. Im pretty sure this is what the shaking while braking was about.

Also, my power steering leaked for the looongest time.

I took it on a 100 mile trip, and now it dosent leak. What has happened though, is, now i have a sound coming from my drivers front wheel. It sounds like metal is grazing metal. Ive heard it come from other cars before, i just never knew what it was. Its not a constant grazing, its actually pretty random sounding, and it usually happens when im coasting. Also, now ive also noticed that the 'brake' light comes on when the ebrake isnt even up. Is this a gerneral brake warning light?

I also saw when i had my wheel off, some of the rubber gromits for the suspension arms are busted open with their oil gone. I know this isnt good.

I was plan on getting my rack and pinion replaced because it was leaking the ps fluid, but now that its not, i dont know if i have to. But im afraid that the 'grazing' problem has a potiential of getting way worse if it has anything to do with the rack and pinion.

What do i need to get replaced or fixed, and do you guys think ill be able to do it myself, or even with a little bit of help??

thanks

if you can move the wheel hub around it means your ball joints are worn and need to be replaced. if the rubber seals are broken then they are bad or are going to get bad. I think if you have a hanes manual or just some common knowledge and knowhow about suspensions then you should be able to handle it. idk what the "grazing noise" your talking about is possibly your brakes dragging. if your hand brake light is on when the hand brake is off you need to first make sure your hand brake really is holding the rear wheels by jacking the car and spinning the wheel. if it is dragging in the rear then you need to adjust the hand brake cable.

If there is play between the hub and the upright (some people call it a spindle) then your bearings are at fault. If the whole assembly (upright and hub) can move relative to the control arms then the balljoints are at fault. Based on your brake issues I suspect the bearings are the problem. Worn bearings affect how the pad contacts the rotor and can make the brakes drag more than normal overheating the rotors and making noise like you're describing.

If it is the wheel bearing is bad I think that part alone is around $60. I'm not sure what the labor would run, maybe $100 each side.

radius rod bushings control the front to back motion of the assembly when accelerating/braking/running something over
