Are there any of you current members that are running a Civic radiator? I'm talking about the smaller ones that are about half the width of ours. If so, I'd sure like to see some pics of how you have it setup. Post them here or PM me if you would rather.
Thanks.
Rob.

The top support piece isn't finished in this pic,but other than that, this is basically it. I'm keeping this with my new turbo ls too.http://keruh.com/3gz/accordtheory6.jpg

Nice. Now:
1. Is that a stock Civic unit? How much harder do you think it would be to use a race one (2" thick)?
2. Is the Civic unit taller/shorter than ours?
3. How long have you been running that, and how has it performed for you?
4. What type of fan is that?
5. Did you use a different temperature sending unit? Please elaborate if you did.

It's just a typical aftermarket aluminum one, i think it's 5/8" thick, a little thicker than stock. A 2" think one you would lose a little clearance, because the fan would be back more.
The civic unit is taller, it's kind of a pain to get it to fit nicely without hanging down too low.
I've been running it for a while, it works fine.
The fan is a flex a lite. I don't recommend these pieces of shit, every time it comes on, the whole car shakes. They don't balance them.
Well, I had sean's gm ecm setup when the car was still together, it uses the gm sensor snd turns the fan on at 180 deg. However, I still have the stock switch connected too. Here is an old pic of that:http://keruh.com/3gz/civicrad2.jpg

Theory, you've been a big help. Thanks for being so open with the information too; seems like there are so few around here that are willing to share. Yeah, I'm thinking about running the 2" aluminium one to free up space for a vertical mounted FMIC in the open space. I'll have to do some measuring. Thanks for the info on the fan too, and I like how you did the thermal sending unit; very inovative.

Just wanted to comment, thats cool. How much was the rad though? (aftermarket one) and hows the cooling with a smaller rad and a cast iron block?

I think the radiator was only like $70, I bought it on ebay. I had no problems keeping the cast iron engine cool at 12psi. I beat the shit out of that engine, too.

Was it lighter than stock?

Seems this answers my questions!!

Great pic. That realy shows the size difference, and how much room it opens up. Thanks again to all of you for the great information.
