Hey, i'm new here and i just wanted to show you guys my Accord HB.

Maybe you could give me some tips on what to do about my clear coat issue?

Welcome to the board! Nice clean hatch. Can't wait to see what you have in store for it. As far as the clear coat problem. My roof is starting to do the same thing. I dont know what to do about it other than repaint the car...Check out my page...

Thanks, i'm not really sure what to do about it really, i was thinking about wet sanding it with about 1200 grit sand paper or so, then just reclear coating it.

As far as mod's, I'm not sure if i want to do anything really, i need this car to be reliable and i'm not sure what kind of things i can do to it. It's got 244K miles on it and i'm hoping to run to over 300k. What mod's could i do to help that along, or not effect the longevity of the car? other than I/E.

Hi! and welcome to the board. Honestly, most mods (bolt-ons) don't have any real consequence as to the longevity of the car. I think it matters a lot how you drive it--mods are conduscive of making you drive a bit harder. I/E will give you better mpg/sound/power though, so it's what a lot of people choose. Also, suspension will make your car A LOT more fun. Check out the appropriate forum for more info. Nice clean hatch!

thats a really clean looking hatch... you might be able to do something with the wetsanding your clearcoat and going from there, but that looks as though you may have to repaint.

yeah, that was what i've been afraid of. There is one problem, on the roof, there is stuff that has been cracking along the car, and recently, some of it broke off, i'm not sure what it was, i'll try to get a picture up

hey bro nice looking car, i would take car of the smalls things first like that bumper i would paint that to match that rest of the car, the interior is pretty good i would change it all out to black that was i am in the process of doing now to my car, ummm theres a lot of things you can do for that car its injected so an intake would be nice just simple crap like that would be great for starters.

Well, now that you have seen the good side of my car, here's the bad.

I'm thinking that there is no point in painting this car because of the piece that has fallen off, not to mention the cracking everywhere. I also think that this car may have been involved in a major accident at one point because of the way that this first pic looks.

Is this fixable? or should i just get a different 3g when i have money to mod the car?

Other than that, this is an awesome car, it has enough power to get me from point A to point B in decent time, and i get decent milage.

hatchbacks are hard to find... if you feel the love for yours, you can do a lot of things to repair most of those issues.

the clearcoat looks beyond repair, unfortunately. a real paint job costs quite a bit, but you can get a bangup job for under a grand if you're strapped.

the trim can be scraped off, so at least you'd have all chrome trim. from there you can remove it and primer/repaint them. i use electric tape as a temporary thing... it keeps the metal from rusting, and hides the chrome. the bumper trim can be restored with all sorts of rubber/vinyl restoratives. there are also some plastic restoratives that work well until you get them resprayed.

in terms of your engine life, the best thing you could do is keep on top of leaks, run good fuel, make sure you're changing the oil every 3000... that sort of stuff.

Welcome. Clean hatch by the way. Just keep good fitlers in it, good gas, change the oil, injector cleaner that kind of stuff.

over all, your hb looks clean. the paint isnt a big thing. at least the body is good looking. you can always repaint it. i'd say yeah, go for a repaint. i love hb's, they arent the most common 3gee's so i'd say hang onto that car. the piant on my 3gee is gettin old. for the most part it still looks good, but i'm planning on having it repainted. i'll probley be changing the color since i'm spending a nice amount of money getting the body straitened up.

My paint did the same thing as that! Your paint is screwed and it's going to start rusting. Spend some time sanding that beast down and then repaint it! Good luck!

Yup Welcome!!! You'll find this website to be AWESOME!!! So, enjoy you're stay. My paint was doing the same thing and it was starting to rust. I would agree w/ bitesize about just slapping some paint on there so that you can avoid major rust issues.

so what do i do abou the terrible condition of the exterior? like in the last picture, where it's all cracked, do i just continue to crack all of that off? i'm at a loss, and if it's going to start rusting, i need to know what i can do.

take a paint scraper and some paint remover puddy (forgot the exact name of it, but a bodyshop guy my mom works with recomended it to me to fix all the Cracking on my hood before repainting) apply the puddy, let sit, and according to him when you scrape it off with the paint scraper it will take it down to the bare metal. With paint problems as exstensive as that youll have to take everything down to the bare metal before repainting. I have many of the same problems you have, youll see at the meet lol. But im planning on doing all the body work myself, then having maaco paint it, or maybe some other body shop if they will cut me a little bit of a deal.
