View Full Version : Strange underhood noise (steering?)

Hi,

My accord makes a strange noise - rapid
series of cracking (not seem metallic) noises
when I accelerate into turns. The faster
it goes into turns, the lauder and higher frequency
it seems. No noise when I idle, go or accelerate straight. Practically no noise when I turn the wheel standing still. Seems to be coming from the right (drivers side of the engine). Turning right or left makes no difference. Steering is
not effected otherwise. I thought it is the axle
(the boot is torn) so I packed it temporarily with
grease - no difference. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Val

sounds like your Cv joint is shot.
you better off replacing the whole axel.

I tried to put some grease in for diagnostic
purposes - if it would temporarity eliminate
it so to make sure it is the joint. It made
do difference. This is why I am not sure it is
the joint.

its the joint man trust me. putting grease in a torn worn joint isnt gonna stop it from popping. the bearings are probably too worn and have too much sand and crap in them for new grease to help.... get a new cv joint.

i have to agree with guys. If the bearings are shot, nothing will help.
