View Full Version : Gauges: Wiring?

Hi All,

I picked up my 3G 86 Accord the other month. I was driving an 86 Ford Bronco II that I totalled, whoops.

Anyway, I decided to make the car "mine" by buying a CF guage bezel and white faced gauges. I managed (after several swear words and cuts) to get them all installed.

However, all I'm left with is two wires, a red one and a black one. I know their purpose (red = power, black = ground) but I'm afraid of what to hook them into.

So I have two questions:

1) I have my control switch for the guages mounted under the left side of my dash. Where's the best place for me to connect those two (red and black) wires? Specifically what color wires and where are they?

2) Can anyone take a picture of their Speedometer while their car is OFF? During install I managed to bump the needle enough so it reads faster than I'm going. I'd like to adjust that, but need an accurate guide. So a close-up on a speedometer, while the car is OFF would be great!

Thanks,
Ruin

Thanks man, that's just what I needed! :)

Now I just need to figure out where to hook up these two wires, lol.

frankie, that is not a speedo gauge. that is tach.

But it tells me that the needle is too far up on my Speedo. When my speedo is at rest, with the car off, the needle is EXACTLY on 0. I need it to be a little bit lower.

It serves the same purpose. :) And, if memory serves, both the speedo and the tach rest in the same position when the car is off.

Anyone know what to do with the wiring?

The actual circuit board? As in the IC Board, or the fuse box?

i'm at a loss too,are these wires from the original gauges or do they make the gauge faces light up or something? INFO!! i need INFO!! were there instructions saying what they are supposed to be hooked up to IE +12 volts, ground, etc. if you can find out what the yare supposed to go to i'll take a cluster apart and take some pics.http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2050000-2050999/2050019_63_full.jpg

I'm pretty certain you just need to splice them into existing wires under the dash. I just dont know which ones to hook them to. And I'll be darned if I'm going to buy a Chilton's for this.

I mean are they from the new gauge faces or something? what are they supposed to make the gauges do, if you can tell me that i can tell you where to hook them up.
