Hey guys long time no see I have a crx now and was having lots of trouble and thought u guys could help me out. I was driving my car one day and it just started sputtering like I would step on the gas and it would go for a bit then sort of stall then go again. i looked at my gas gauge and it was showing it was ok and the car never died out it just didnt have any power. So I parked it got more gas, got a bottle of oil as well and put it in. After putting it in I would start my car it would idle up and then die out. So I then went and got a Fuel filter thinking it might be clogged. When i changed it I noticed the it was getting no fuel to the line and I heard nothing I when i put my ignition on. So the next day I changed the fuel pump and now it start but idles soooo bad like its going to die, the motor is really loud now and its smoking really badly, I cleaned the Throttle body with some cleaner and still nothing...................Any ideas!??!!? it would be greatly appreciated thanks. And I have checked the plugs and ignition components and they seem fine.

Are you gettin spark on all the cylinders?.. .Check cap rotor, plugs and wires...
And your main relay too... Thats a tricky one too...

so... you were driving and everything was fine, and then *cough cough chug sputter stall* ???

was there any preliminary noise, like a loud bang? or whoomp? loud click? gradual clicking?

and when you say loud, how do you mean?

all in all, this sounds like a serious electrical problem. i bet there's a short somewhere, and you'll probably end up burning out your new fuel pump too. the reason i say that is because everything was fine, and then suddenly your car starts giving out. You change the fuel filter, but by that time your fuel pump was totally dead...
Now that you've changed the pump, it works, sort of.

I would recommend (to start) get an ECU and main relay from the junkyard. it can't hurt to replace those and see if it helps. Could only be 30 bucks or so, tops.

Oh, and check your battery connections and grounds.

Just checked the spark plugs and 3 of them are black and have bits of oil on em, the other one is like melted, the one that came out of that plugs was smoking when the plug was removed, changed and cleaned the plugs............any ideas? still continues to rough idle and spit out white smoke when the gas is pressed

smell the white smoke. if it smells sweet you blown your headgasket. if you smell oil you may want to check the compression in the cylinders.
