1987 Accord Lx - carb - automatic - 275,000 miles.

Lots of new maint. items. The usual... all filters, fluids, plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor - a long list.

I have an intermittent stalling problem. The car will run and idle fine for a good while, then out of the blue at idle, the engine stops. Car starts right back up again with a little pedal.

What I'm also noticing now is a sputtering sound inside the cabin at idle. Occurs a little once underway, but mostly at idle. When this is going on, the stalling is more prevalent.

Thoughts appreciated.

check distributor, check vacuum lines, clean the carb.

Yeah I know all about that.

I'm experiencing what sounds like radio static inside the car. This occurs with the radio off. Once this happens, the idle problem sets in. The car will be idling fine, then drops like a rock and dies. You start it up again, let it idle for awhile, then it dies again. Extremely intermittent problem. Not a vacuum hose issue. All of this occurs on a warm motor, parked on a level surface.

Anyone familiar with this static noise inside the cab?
