i have noticed that my inner rack and pinion boots are torn.
i have purchased new boots ,how would you recommend putting them on.
i was thinking just cut the old boots off and make a clean slice straight down
the center of the new ones , put them on with the supplied zip ties ,
and use rubber cement to seal it back together?

Don't cut them. You have the remove the tie rod ends and slide them on. If you carefully mark and/or measure their position before you start you should be able to avoid screwing up the toe when you reassemble it.

when i did mine i counted the threads when i unscrewed the tie rod ends, but it was still off, get your toe checed when you are done. don't turn the rod that goes to the rack, and make sure you unscrew the locknut before you try to remove the tie rod end.

Also, check for fluid in the old boots. I replaced my boots a couple years ago. I went to the trouble of doing it and then the expense of getting an alignment to reset the toe properly only to have the seals in the rack totally let loose a few months later. If there is fluid inside the old boots you have leaky seals and it's not worth messing with.
