how many bolts between torque converter and flexplate?

how many bolts are there that hold the torque converter onto the flexplate? and is there any way to prevent the engine from cranking when im trying to lossen these bolts?

8, and i used a screwdriverwedged in the flexplate. a better idea is to find a crank holder and lock up your pulley with that. i can't remember the proper name for the tool, but it locks onto your crank pulley and keeps it from turning.
