Gutters????

If this question has been asked before FORGIVE me.
What is the purpose of the "gutter"(???) over the rear door (4 door)or rear windoow (coupe)?
Can the "strip" be removed and the "gutter" welded closed??
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

im not sure why you'd want to? but then i am sure you can do it. it helps so that the water from the roof doesnt pour onto the windows, making it easier to see through the side and rear windows.

I think it was put there because that is where Honda welded the roof panel to the pillars.
And then they just used that as a filler strip. You would be able to weld in a peice to make it smooth. I thought about doing that before my paint job was done, but my z3 fenders took long enough to do!

i heard somewhere that its a factory flex point. if you fill it in it will just crack out.
