What should i expect for the horsepower increase with a mild or race REGROUND cam?

I have a cam sitting around. and i have got to get it reground so i can install it in my 35,000 mile motor... hee hee

i'm also goin to get pacesetter headers and repaint to the color of my liking.

GOtta finish the exhaust. i have a Arospeed universal muffler but i need to get the piping done.

all in all what are the realistic gains to achieve on a 35,000 mile motor with I/H/E carbed?

thanks

I got a small increase with the cat-back and a much bigger worth while increase with the header an intake (just a K&N in the stock box). But my car wasn't carbed. Wouln't a carbed car offer up simular gains?

Jim,

I would assume that it would be similiar to EFi mod gains.

The cam I got at Colt cams was supposed to give me 10% or more increase in HP and I believe it. My fuel economy went up about 10-12% and I can feel it kick in at about 3000rpm but there was an increase all the way through. I was going to get one for the 88 but never got around to it. A really rough guesstimate increase for your carbed car with rigged up intake, header, exhaust and cam would be 15-20HP???

Where can i get some cams for my 89 SE-i? Also, wich one is better pacesetter headers or DC sport's headers????? because i'm trying to decide.

YK86, so your new cam gave you more power and improved mileage? Wow, that's impressive. What kind of fuel economy were you getting before and after. I'd love to get more power out of my engine, but I like getting ~34 mi/gal. It sounds like with teh right cam I could have both. I'm assuming an EXi is fuel injected.

In a sense all basic bolt ons will give you improved fuel economy. The more efficient you make the engine, the less you need to use the gas. I went from getting roughly 25mpg to 30mpg after all my performance mods (driving under the same conditions). The cam, intake, exhaust all gave me better fuel economy. Some just barely while others helped alot.

Good luck finding a set of DC's. They're the best way to go, but price and availability makes them a bit difficult to track down. Nopi doesn't have them either, although they show them.

Unless you look really hard, Pacesetter may be your option.

For just a few dollars at a muffler shop you can have a real flwx section welded to the pacesetter header.
