i read the 'how to convert from auto to 5 speed' thread and it says you need an 5 speed rear tranny mount. i got the rear tranny mount off a 5 speed car in a junker car in the junkyard that i went to. when i removed my auto one, i realized their both the same(or atleast look the same). whats up with that?

you can use the same rear mount (auto might be a bit mushier), but the bracket must be swapped in order to make it line up.

yeah, the bracket for the rear tranny mount; the part that bolts to the stud on the mount and to the transmission.

kinda confusing... maybe you can point it out on this diagram

i believe the part i got from the wreckers was part 12. if its not that part, maybe you can tell me which part it is so i can go back and get it. their different part numbers, but they both look the exact same...

yup, #12 is the one you want. you'd see the difference if you tried to use the auto bracket.

are the holes a very small distance apart that i wouldnt notice it? you had me worried there for a second that i was supposed to get the part under that bracket :uh: .

i've compared both, and i can't see any difference. If they are at all different, its only by about half an inch.

you will find out the diff when you try to swap. i found out the hard way.
it was about 1/2 -3/4 diff in holes.
good luck.
PS. stick with HOW TO, that is what it is there for.
