on the 3 gee you pop off the black triangular cover above the doorsill and you'll see some phillips machine screws. Disconnect the power and start loosening the screws, the whole assembly will come out.

oooh true
it's actually glued. Use a heat gun on it for a good 2 min and peel it off.

The shop manual actually does mention it, but what you have to do is to use a hairdryer or similar (most people own a hairdryer..) and heat up the hard rubber edge around the mirror, it needs to be heated up good. Then you'll be able to pry down the rubber edge and take out the mirror. If you can avoid using a screwdriver to pry out the mirror and just use you fingers that would be the best solution, since you can risk destroying both the rubber edge and the mirror when you use the screwdriver.

And yea there's some sticky gum on the backside of the mirror too holding it in.

tnx a lot!

Do you think it's possible to just drop the assembly into the oven like i already did for my blackhousing on my 4th gen?

i did not grill my finger when i put the headlight into the oven. And the job was perfect.

For sure, i won't put the mirror into the oven at 400degree for over an hour lollolol

like the headlight, i puted 'em in to 350degree for 5-7min than remove 'em. The headlight was hot but not to the point of burning my finger. It was an easy job!
