Ok, I posted a thread on here about my accord lxi
having a gas smell on the dipstick when I check the oil.
It's still like that. a guy I know has a 92 chevy cavalier
that has the same problem. he said he has an o ring on one of the fuel injectors that keeps popping out of place, and that is what's causing
him to have gas in his oil. I think I have the same problem.
another problem I have recently discovered is:
Now that it's getting colder outside my lxi will emit a bunch of white smoke
(regular looking exhaust) but more than normal when I first start the car.
then after warming up about 10 mins, it won't smoke anymore.
I recenly discovered that 4 of the 7 bolts that hold the exhaust manifold
to the engine are missing. another recent discovery is that there's a hole
about the size of a quarter in the bottom of the muffler, along with several
pin size holes.( the muffler is about to rust off).
my question is could the missing bolts on the manifold and the rusty muffler
play any role in the smoke when I start the car? on hot days the car will not smoke at all. This is one of the most mysterious cars I have ever owned.
oh yeah, will running the car with a leaky fuel injector ruin anything?
The oil is always at the right level, just smells like gas. the oil looks and feels clean. I need somw help. I don't want to do anything to make the car get worse. i don't want to kill her.

well you got 3 questions into one.

Running a car with a leaking injector could be bad if it leaks into the motor compartment and starts a fire or leaks into the motor itself and thins the oil enough to cause damage.

Gas in the oil means there is something wrong but it could be as simple as a bad sensor making the car run to rich. The white smoke could be a rich condition, it will smell like gas when its running. Very White fluffy smoke like alot that smells sweet like anitfreeze means your headgasket is blown and needs replacing.

Check your ecu and see if you have anycodes as well.

I checked the ecu for codes. When I first got the car it would flash 12 times.
and the pgm-fi light would intermittently come on and off.
I was told that "12" means either the egr valve is un-plugged/shorted out, or
needs replacement. After that, I replaced the fuel filter, put fresh gas in
(there was still about a 1/4 tank of the old gas in the car.( the car sat for about 1 year or 2 when I bought it.) Along with the fresh gas I put a can of
lucas fuel system treatment in. After that pgm-fi light stayed off, now the car is down to about 1/4 tank again and the pgm-fi light is back on.
When i put the fresh gas in, I only filled it about 3/4, so I didnt fill it all the way. I would have filled it completely but, I did not have enough gas around.
The car wasn't legal then, so I just used what I had at home.

Might have alotta water in your fuel plus if its old it wont run to well. Probably need to run out a full tank of gas and see what it does. Change the oil of course and watch for leaks around the injectors and related O rings. All the things your listed are possible reasons for fuel in the oil.
