Quick question if u had the choice which engine would u want?
Both are 160hp both are DOHC the b20a is bigger by alittle bit and produce more torque....hmmmm Vtec on the b16a and there are alot of parts on Ebay
damn what is the better buy?

Again Thanks for the advice im just trying to answer all my question!

ok it all depends of the price... the complete B series kit from placeracing costs around 1200 to 1500 (not sure or the exact price) This is a serious turndown!!!!

The wires being cut at the firewall isn't a problem as long as you have the complete enginebay harness, the rest, placeracing can take care of it..

The B20A is good cause nobody wants it... thus you'll get a good price on it. It's just a little harder to get it to work... but I'm sure we can all help you :)

It's all a matter of money

you do need to understand that the jdm b20a is in many more ways then u might know very similar to the prelude B20. the prelude b20 is only rated at 140 or 130 and i don't see why honda would make the accord 160 hp. i may be wrong on this but the hp rating on the jdm b20 could be more around 140 then 160. And also if u have driven a 3rd gen prelude with the B20 u know that its not that great. stock that is. But then again the B20 definately has better potential then the A20 and the B16 because of its size.

go wit the b16...........huge after market support!!!!! finding stuff for the b20 is almost as hard as finding stuff for our cars! :pimp:

I would go with the B16 just because you know what you are getting and you know if something breaks there are parts to fix it immediately. With the B20a it would be hard to find parts such as a waterpump.

justanothermike, the way u put it, is there possibly some similarities in the parts used from like the prelude? or how bout the b20b/z from the cr-v? That alone might help with parts availablity.

I hate to burst folks bubbles, but the B20 produces 145hp by JDM figures. I think it converts to 160hp on USDM figures. Somewhere I have a chart showing all bour engines (B20, B18, A20, and A18), and their power output. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Oh, and if you wanna mod in the future, B16.

I have been debating what to do for a long time but i am in the process of buying a B20A. Both have their ups and downs but the torque on the B20A is much higher than most other B-series including the GSR which is needed to pull the heavier accord. I decided to buy it because i want to go turbo sometime and i couldnt beat the price. The b16A i wanted to do would cost about $10k to build properly for turbo. Many prelude parts do transfer but many dont which pose a problem but my plan is to stock up while i can and have them for the future. The motor i am getting is fully built and has many new honda parts already in it. But that was my number one draw back so i will in the near future import the neccesities such as gaskets, water pump etc. I will be doing the swap sometime this summer and will give you guys feedback when i get it done.

MoonScryer & mike,

What B20A are you talking about? The JDM Accord Si B20A is rated at approx 160hp. Go to the Japanese Honda site and have a look for yourself. You'll see it's rated at 160 PS @ 6300rpm. PS stands for Pferdestarke and is the unit for metric horsepower. Grab your calculator and convert to hp and the result will be around 160hp.

Hey Rob, we gotta meet up this summer on the pike somewhere. when you start this b20 swap lemme know cause I definitely wanna check it out. I am doing a b18a1 swap this summer and hopefully it will go smooth.

I would try to find a complete one because i have been trying to source spare honda parts for the one im in the process of buying and its hard to find parts for them. I may have found a place but still working on it. Justanothermike said he has a source for B20s but i cant rememer if he said they were complete i think they were.

B20a/1 for sure! the only reason why is that you can port the head out more than b16 use custom ground cams instead of vtec. how bout using 2.2 valves and conrods? then you got fully ported 2.2 versus a 1.6, i live in NZ where we get all JDM imports. The B16a and B20a make the same power but the B20a has noticably more torque and power down low. but the B16 can b modified by bolt ons the b20 needs to b customised. There is more potential in the b20a but if you want bolt ons go b16, tec

Think about which engine if you wanted to sell somebody would buy?

b16 dohc vtec or b20a???? The way things are now having a b16 or any vtec engine is like a investment!

Damn talk about digging way back this is real old.

Depends on your cash flow. B20A would be cheaper and easier.

Well, I have been debating wether to go with a B20a or a B18c1, but I am being confused with the differences between the B20's??!?! I need more info. I dont want to have problems getting parts for this. And how hard would it be to build up a B20a for a turbo?? I plan to run in the 13's. Which I could probly do with a NA B18, but I am thinking the B20 will turn out to be a lot cheaper, as long as I can get parts for it easily. As long as most things are the same as the prelude B20, then I can get em cheap cuz I work at a parts store.

I just need to know these things. And will I be able to have A/C?
