These are the engines from 1g Crx, 2g Crx, 1g Integra, Honda Concerto & a lot of Rovers...

They all made at least 124HP. 140 NM of torque. The black top Teg engine made 130-135HP
Basically they produced similar power from a 1.6L but with less weight.
but with the Crx's racing history aftermarket companies made life easier for the 'D's

The tegs weigh -/+ 1000kg's like us

The Concerto weighs 1120kg's

dont know about the Concerto or the rover but rover even made a GTI

Its come aparent theres a lot of mix & match parts with them, you can use a 1989 teg block with stock 9:5.1 cr with a 1995 Concerto or Rover head! these had longer runners because they were big 5 door cars.

All of them except the 1g Crx had electric Dizzy's
They all got crappy exhausts

all Aly lightweight engine

90mm stroke

250HP rods (D16A2)

A D17 crank and rods will fit.

There's copious amounts of Rovers, tegs, 2g Crx's in the yards.

If your still worried about torque use boost.

Plenty of aftermarket support.

For stripped out cars, thats an easy 150HP Proven gearbox and a lighter engine = better power 2 weight

Comments?

i think if you are boosting, the a20 is a stronger motor to use in the first place. :(

So you re-sleeve it.
The head is on a 1995 car and is popular with aftermarket support!

yeah or you could "not" resleeve an a20! ;-)

i see what ur getting at, zc's and the sohc d16's are starting to get more aftermarket, but its still not a great motor for boost. they can handle 300+ but im not sure if they can do that on a stock motor.

im sure u are already a member there, but just in case... check out www.homemadeturbo.com/ they have a lot of experience in boosting, building, tuning, and blowing D's. :)

also, im not sure what u are getting at with this post, are you suggesting that D's might make decent motors to swap into 3gs? i guess im just not totally clear.

If you take on the trouble to swap in a D series you might as well swap in a B series instead. They are pretty cheap as well, at least the B16's.

B16's cost more, plus you have to convert to hydraulics and cable.
They also cost more if something goes wrong.

The D16's i'm talking about are all twin-cam.

They're a lot lighter because theyre all aluminium and produce the same power.

Therefore yes i am suggesting they would be a good motor for a 3g.

VTEC is already 40hp ahead i guess but to some people on here thats overated and unimportant.

To me power 2 weight is important!

yeah i see your point, but the cost to rewire and mount it is the same as a B motor. the parts cant be toooo outrageous...

i agree power to weight is important, but if ur gonna bother to do the swap, for the effort involved, it seems more benificial to do b swap. they make more power, have stronger aftermarket, and as far as i am aware, respond better to modifications than any d16 zc motor. :)

Fair enough, thanks for your comments.

My G/f's Civic has the D16C1 in it, its a nice engine, and i have thought about putting one in my 3g, her engine is alot nicer and i believe it will fit, time is money and money is what everybody needs so i'm sure it would fit some how, and its not a bad engine for my 18 year old car.

Remember anything will fit as long as you have enough $.

well i've had the a18, Since converted to a stock 14.8 Second B20A1. and since bought a MK1 Crx with 40K on it D16A2/ZC1 and if i kept it above 5K RPM it would catch my B20A1 Lude!!!
I realise the lack of bottom end and thats why i mentioned a substitutie.
Bear in mind that the Crx weighs only 850KG and my g/f weighs almost 3 stone less than me but, hell...do i modify that or mine?? both are stock currently.
Its cost me a year modifying my Lude.
