I always use Honda oil filters on my '89 LXi. The filter I just bought from the dealership said "made in the USA". Anyone know anything about these filters?

I dunno about USA filters but Canadians filters are made by Honeywell... which is in fact FRAM.

the price you pay for OEM honda filter (if you are buying from a dealer), you better off getting Bosch or Mobil 1 filter.

I use Napa Spinflow filters on all my cars now. They are about $3.50 a piece, are made under a Wix patent, and really seem to do a good job.

In the 80's and 90's, the Honda filters were of better quality than the replacement counterparts from Fram, Perulator and what not. Even the motorcyclist would tend to use Honda filters.

I didn't realize that somewhere along the line, the "Honda" filters sold in dealerships were assembled in the US. I just wonder if what the dealership sells is still a superior product? According to responses to this thread, it doesn't appear that way anymore.

Napa spinflow is made by wix, i'm going to have to look into that. Car Quest brand is also made by wix but it's almost $10.

Newer Honda oil filters just suck... (at least in Canada)

I use Purolater Pure One filters. They're the blue ones, not white.

you can get Bosch or Mobil 1 filters at Autozone. That is where i get my Mobil 1 filters. they are expensive but they do best job in my opinion.

You can search on eBay for either "Honda oil filter," or "Nippon oil filter." There you can get pretty good deals on Nippon filters, said to be the Japanese OEM Honda filter. Personally, I have used everything but Honda filters mainly due to availability and price - BEFORE eBay. On bobistheoilguy.com they claim that the generic cheapo filters (Supertech) that are sold at Wal Mart are a lot better than many of the so-called premium filters.
