How my mechanic could have changed out the idle stabilizer valve (89 Sei) and not put in new hoses is beyond me. Anyway, he didn't, and the other day I noticed the temperature gauge wobbling around. Inspection revealed a small split in one of the 8mm (coolant) hoses that are connected to the valve. You guys might want to take a look at them before things get hot.
When you replace the hoses, I think you should get the pre-curved ones from Mr. Honda. The longer, kind of S-shaped lower hose can be made from a stock piece, but the upper, smaller, right-angle hose will crimp if you try to make a stock piece fit. I had to make a big loop, which I guess works ok but isn't too elegant. Also, don't forget to replace the little straight section of hose that is also 8mm, and is in front of the engine, and is connected bye and bye from the little right-angle hose. Get in there and you'll see what I mean.
You have to remove the big plastic induction tubes to get at these hoses. At least it seemed easier to me that way. And while you have all that off, if you haven't replaced some of the big hoses that are now in full view it's a good time to do it.
